This project is an abstract immersive short film that around two adjectives - surreal and hypnagogic to create. By designing the audio and visual to increase the heightened multisensory, thereby it tells a surreal experience.
Concept:
When people stay in lost and depressed moods for a long time, sometimes people could start to question which is reality and which is dream.
To express surrealism and hypnagogic, I mainly use real and fake flowers to represent reality and dreams to express complex emotions. Each frame in a quick cut jump between real and fake flowers to make an immersive feeling and create a surreal experience.

Behind the scene
Because it is a bit awkward to film the flowers before people's houses as well as on the street. To get the right camera angle, I did a rehearsal at home before I shoot outside. I simulate the environment and find a good camera position, which helps me to decrease the shooting times.
The rotating scene is inspired by Titanic. The fast-rotating scene brings the video's emotion to the highest point. The scene is basically me taking my phone and around the flowers turning from up to down.
The flower animation is using roto brush and puppets in after effects to achieve the "weird" movement.
